Chinese Club
CSO representative Fall, Spring 2019
Panther Connect Admin for Fall 2020
As the CSO representative I made sure that all points were fulfilled. This made sure that the club remained in active status. At every event, I took pictures to upload as proof that the event took place. REWRITE
Sino-US Language and Culture Salon
Treasurer Spring 2021
As the Treasure of the Sino-US Culture and Language Salon, I had the privilege to handle the club's finances. I made sure that it was in good standing with the CSO and SORC offices. This taught me how to budget and manage finances on a grander scale. I am thankful that the club trusted me with their finances. I supported large scale endeavors like collaborating with the Chinese Club to celebrate the Chinese New Year and set up a budget that is favorable and flexible to make the experience memorable.
Global Learning's Impact
Becoming a better worldly citizen
Over the past two years, I have been actively expanding my global awareness through participating in various clubs and programs. The Global Learning Initiatives Office fosters an environment where none feel excluded. Their staff and coordinators are also diverse and often share their experiences. They lead discussions about what it is like to learn a new language, leave a war-torn country, assimilation in the U.S., and all of the positive strides they have made as nationalized Americans. They also always remind us that no matter our sex, orientation, political alignment, and background we all belong in this world and we can all change it for the better.

The office provides workshops, seminars, and classes that cater to global learning. The workshops and seminars have given me great motivation to think about and conduct research on global matters. Further, I can combine my knowledge of health and passion for medicine to tackle these issues.
In my undergraduate academic career, I have participated in 3 culture clubs, 3 global learning courses, and picked up 2 new languages. One of which I am receiving a certification degree of fluency for from FIU.

Learning about all of which surrounds me is important. That is why I joined the program. It gave me insight on wordily matters, issues, politics, international relations, and religion. I may not know all of the global matters presently taking place, but I am prepared to adequately search them, analyze them, discuss them.
The program prepared to view everything through a global mindset and I cannot thank them enough.
Advancity
Empowering International Students through English-language Learning
As a Mentor of Advancity, I have helped over 100 students improve their English proficiency. Whether it was speaking, writing, or interview skills, I was at the forefront of their learning. Every step of the way, I guided them to achieve their English learning goals, pre-professional, and professional goals. Some have successfully passed the TOEFL, IELTS, and the GRE. While others have landed their dream jobs.

My leaners are some of the most hardworking people I have ever met. They are the first generation in their families to attend school abroad, to learn a second language, and to tackle life in a new country. Coming from various countries in Africa, The United Kingdom, and Asia, they are truly an international bunch.

I have had the pleasure of being part of this company for over 3 years. There is not a day that passes by where I don't think of my students. Overtime, some have become my closest friends. We even give each other advice!

Through helping these students learn a different language and assimilate to a new country, I gained a much more profound understanding of the immigrant experience. While I am not an immigrant, my immediate family is. No matter how much I have tried to understand, there has always been a few missing pieces. These learners helped me bridge everything together particularly through the lens of what it means to be "The First" in their families.
